February is done and over with. So how did my No Spend February go? It went great… for most parts of it.
Days before I declared this challenge, my Navy Exchange decided to carry Anastasia Beverly Hills products. I was so tempted to give in and purchase a few products. People on Youtube have been raving about the contour kit and they’re brow products for as long as I can remember so I’ve been wanting to try but didn’t want to order online. I had to consciously avoid that section of the store every time we would go there. I didn’t even dare to look at the display in the fear that my curiosity will get the best of me and I’ll end up buying a product of two.
I was already proud of myself because it was two weeks into February and I managed to not buy anything that wasn’t a necessity. I even talked myself out of buying a Valentine’s gift for the husband because technically it wasn’t a necessity. I even stopped checking my email regularly cause most of the emails I receive are promotional anyway. I had a notification set for those important ones anyway.
It seemed like the month was gonna end without me purchasing anything that wasn’t deemed a necessity. Then… someone on Facebook posts that they now carry NYX Cosmetics too. It was the last straw. I had to go and get my hands on them. I managed to reason to myself that it was okay to purchase a few things because they were only six dollars a product, not like the Anastasia ones. The husband kept teasing me about giving in to make up but I had no regrets it felt nice to have a cheat day on this challenge. It made the rest of the month fly by faster.
The whole reason I started this personal challenge is to put some money in my savings account. I succeeded in that aspect. I was not only able to put money in my savings but also my checking account never reached zero. A big achievement since we’ve been living paycheck-by-paycheck for the past months.
Those NYX Cosmetics were the only causality for the whole month and they were only $25. I could have done much worst. Since this personal challenge was such a success, I feel like doing it more often. It’s one of those things that once you do it once, it seems like it would be easier if you do it again. LOL.
